The Ribbon fan palm is a slender palm tree with large fan-shaped leaves that hang down like ribbons at the tips hence its common name. The Ribbon fan palm is one of the most graceful members of the Livistona genus. The adult plants are especially attractive and elegant. The Livistona Decipiens is an under-appreciated palm tree and deserves a lot more attention.

Trunk: The trunk is slender, reddish. It grows to a mature height of about 30-40 feet.
Leaves: The leaves are large, up to 8 feet wide, costapalmate, looking almost like pinnate from a distance, deeply divided with wispy leaflets that hang down like ribbons.The petioles have small but sharp spines.
